Tate Electrical Services Ltd is proud to have successfully delivered a 108kW rooftop Solar PV installation at Elmleigh Hospital for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, supporting the Trust’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions and achieving its Net Zero ambitions.
The installation comprises 180 high-efficiency JA Solar 600W photovoltaic panels paired with two Solis 60kW three-phase inverters, providing an estimated 89,290kWh of clean renewable electricity each year. The system is expected to generate around 29% of the hospital’s annual electricity demand, with approximately 84% of the energy produced being consumed on site.
Working within a live healthcare environment, our team carefully planned and coordinated every stage of the project to ensure hospital services remained fully operational throughout the installation. The project included the installation of the PV array, AC and DC containment systems, inverters, grid connection, commissioning and G99 compliance.
The new system is predicted to save the Trust approximately £18,900 in electricity costs during the first year, with estimated lifetime savings of over £730,000. Environmentally, the installation is expected to reduce carbon emissions by around 23 tonnes of CO₂ every year, making a significant contribution towards the Trust’s sustainability objectives.
Elmleigh Hospital forms part of Tate Electrical’s ongoing programme of renewable energy projects across the NHS estate, delivering high-quality, reliable and sustainable energy solutions that provide long-term environmental and financial benefits.
