Tate Electrical Services Ltd is proud to have successfully delivered a 286.8kW rooftop Solar PV installation at Parklands Hospital, Basingstoke, Hampshire supporting Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust in reducing energy costs and accelerating its journey towards Net Zero. The installation is one of the largest solar PV systems delivered as part of the Trust’s renewable energy programme.
The completed installation comprises 478 JA Solar 600W photovoltaic panels and five Solis three-phase string inverters, providing a predicted annual renewable energy generation of approximately 195,817kWh. The system is expected to supply around 30% of the hospital’s annual electricity demand, with approximately 75% of the energy generated being consumed directly on site.
Delivered within a live healthcare environment, the project required careful planning and coordination to ensure hospital services remained fully operational throughout the installation. Our scope included the installation of the rooftop PV arrays, AC and DC containment systems, inverter installations, electrical infrastructure upgrades, testing, commissioning and full MCS-compliant certification.
The system is forecast to deliver first-year electricity bill savings of approximately £32,927, with projected lifetime utility bill savings exceeding £1.23 million. In addition to the significant financial benefits, the installation is expected to reduce carbon emissions by around 50 tonnes of CO₂ every year, making a substantial contribution to the Trust’s long-term sustainability objectives.
Parklands Hospital represents another landmark renewable energy project completed by Tate Electrical Services Ltd, demonstrating our capability to successfully design and deliver large-scale commercial Solar PV installations for critical healthcare facilities. Through projects such as this, we continue to help NHS organisations reduce operational costs, improve energy resilience and create a more sustainable future.
